about us

We're a cooperative nursery school.
The biggest difference between us and most of the other schools you'll find in the area is that we're a parent cooperative.  That means this is your school as much as your child's.  You will participate in the classroom and give your energy and ideas to it.  You'll play as big a role in shaping your child as the directors do.

Any school can teach children.  The good ones teach you as well.
A good school promotes growth and development of its children.  But the really outstanding school enriches the lives of its grown-ups, too.  That's where we stand apart.  Parents here find their own lives take on more significance because they are in on the process.  Plus, they find new friends - people with whom they can share the challenges and joys of raising children.
 
We focus on the whole child.
We offer a program to promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child.  Both classes offer developmentally appropriate activities that facilitate learning through play.  The activity choices each day include art, literature, science, math, cooking, dramatic play, music and outdoor play.  Our main goal is to encourage the growth of a positive self-concept in each child.
 
Experienced and dedicated directors.
The school is operated by the parents with the assistance of two salaried directors.  Our directors have extensive training in Early Childhood Education and regularly participate in continuing education.

Licensed by the state, loved by the parents for more than 50 years!
LNS is licensed by the California State Department of Social Services and fully conforms to all state laws that provide for a safe and healthy environment.  But the best testimony to our success is the fact that we've been around since 1953.  We have parents who attended the school as children and are now sending their children here as well.
